Building History
The Hotel is a 'Grade II' listed building dating back to 1884. Designed by Thomas C Clarke, what was known as Central Buildings was constructed in a classic design with imposing marble columns a feature of the front elevation and the internal spiral staircase.
Situated within what was the original business district of the city, the building will have housed a number of merchant interests at a time when Liverpool, as one of the world's major seaports, had a prominent international trading role.
Central Buildings could well have been a tourist destination of a different kind as, during the Second World War, it was designated the back up location for allied command headquarters in the city during the Battle of the Atlantic.
As the Hard Days Night Hotel this landmark building will now play a key role in sustaining the city's burgeoning reputation as a major tourist destination within the UK.
